The short of it is The Happiness Machine was listed as part of the Top 10 Coca Cola ads…ever! That’s pretty awesome. Take it from a guy that sat inside a vending machine for 2 days – we never dreamed our work would be discussed in the same breath with historic Coca Cola campaigns like these. Very humbling stuff. …why it’s viral ain’t one. This is the panel I submitted to SXSW. It was not chosen. However, it has been picked up and given new life by the fine folks of The Social Media Club.

99 Questions: Monday March 14th @ 10 am – The Social Media Clubhouse at SXSW 2011, Austin TX.

Since spending two days inside a Coke Machine I’ve traveled to Cairo, Rio de Janeiro and back again all in the name of sharing Happiness. The Happiness Machine video has since been viewed, and more importantly, shared by millions of people around the world and it has achieved exactly what we set out to do – put a smile on the faces of those who see it, share and it become a part of helping the story spread.

Rather than host a panel of experts giving rational arguments for why viral is a misnomer or what will or will not spread virally I will (try to) answer 99 questions from the audience about The Happiness Machine.

Ask me anything. For instance; were you really in the machine? Yes. Maybe you’re curious about what worked, or what didn’t, what we’ve done since, what’s next – you get the picture. Our goal will be to answer 99 questions in an open discussion about the machine, the video, the campaign, the infamous 6 foot sub….you name it! We welcome all comers and all questions. All but one. Why did this video go viral? Viral is a four letter word here at this panel.

It’s ambitious but I think it can be a really fun, open discussion about the work. If you want to glean a little from our experiences, join us for the discussion.
